Margit Vig

Margit Vig has grown up in Hungary and studied there violin. After her graduation violin teacher at the Franz Liszt Musicschool (today University) in Pécs, she came to Austria. Besides her position in the Radiosymphony Orchestra Vienna (RSO/Vienna) she studied with Edith Bertschinger and Riccardo Odnoposoff at the University for Music and Art in Vienna.
Since 1982 she is working on historical performance practice, particularly playing baroque violin and since 1988 the viola d'amore (Studies in Vienna with Josef Mertin, Eduard Melkus, Karl Stierhof an in the Hague with Sigiswald Kuijken. Furthermore, she studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis with Jaap Schröder and in Belgium with Simon Standage. She played chamber music concerts all over Europe and in the USA. CD and radio recordings. Docent for baroque violin and viola d'amore at various courses.
1996 Founding of the ensemble sonor beatus.
2006 Presentation of the baroque violin during the classical presentation of the RSO/Vienna.
2008 Katja Kabanova in the theatre in Vienna with the RSO/Vienna
Currently freelance musician on modern and baroque violin, viola d'amore.
